While some players are just waiting for the next wipe on PC, others are already keeping an eye on Rust Mobile - the official mobile adaptation from Facepunch Studios in partnership with Level Infinite and Tencent Games. From day one it’s presented as a full-fledged survival sandbox, not a simplified knockoff: the same brutal PvP, crafting, base building and raiding, but adapted for portable devices.
What is Rust Mobile?
Rust Mobile is a mobile adaptation of classic Rust, brought to Android and iOS. Players can expect an open world, resource gathering, weapon and armor crafting, base building and defense. It’s still a hardcore survival game where the main rule hasn’t changed.
Development is handled by a team under Level Infinite and Tencent Games, while Facepunch Studios remains the IP owner and keeper of the original vision. Thanks to this, the mobile version follows the spirit of the PC Rust, but also takes into account UI and controls tailored for touchscreens.
Pre-registration and testing phases
Right now, pre-registration for Rust Mobile is live: players can sign up early to get notified about the start and receive rewards at launch. In parallel, closed beta testing is running in selected regions. At this stage, the developers are testing server stability, balance, controls, and the overall feel of the mobile adaptation.
Registration for the closed beta currently goes through the official website
What you need to do:
1. Open the website.
2. On the main page, find the “Sign up for test” button.
3. Click it and fill out the form (email, platform, region, device model).
4. Submit it — if you’re selected for the closed beta, you’ll get an email closer to the test start date.
Why Rust Mobile is worth following already
For fans of survival games and sandboxes, Rust Mobile might end up being one of the few truly hardcore titles on phones. The ability to play your favorite “build it – defend it – raid them back” loop anytime and anywhere makes the mobile version especially appealing.
If you want to be among the first to try the mobile adaptation of Rust, don’t miss pre-registration and follow news from Facepunch Studios, Level Infinite, and Tencent Games - that’s where all the important updates about tests and the release date will appear.
And while you’re waiting for the game to fully launch, you can hop onto CobaltLab - it’s also available on all your devices!
